Welcome to the Purdue Calumet Science Olympiad Site!

Regional Tournament is February 16, 2008

Thanks and congratulations to all!

Congratulations to all who participated in this year's Science Olympiad at Purdue Calumet. Also, we'd like to thank all of the volunteers, coaches, and judges who helped out with this year's event. Check the site for announcements periodically throughout the rest of the year for updates on next year's Science Olympiad, and don't forget to check out the 2008 results tables.

Welcome to our new Regional Director!
Gretchen Wolf is the new Regional Director of the Purdue University Calumet Science Olympiad Regional. Ms. Wolf has been the Site Coordinator for many years and has assumed the additional responsibilities of Regional Director.

A thank you from Diane Trgovcich-Zacok, past Director:
I would like to thank everyone- PUC faculty and students, coaches, parents, participants- that have made this such a worthwhile experience. It was a lot of fun watching the students learn about science and get rewarded for it. I truly appreciate the hard work that the teacher/coaches dedicate to this competition.

Ms. Wolf has been instrumental in making our past Regional Tournament so successful and I’m sure she will continue to lead the way in hosting the best tournaments in the state.

Thanks for a great experience!

Diane

As the name implies, the Science Olympiad is modeled after the Olympic games. Participating schools field a team of 15 students which prepare to compete in a variety of science events at the Regional and State competitions. Nearly all of the events are hands-on, making them more meaningful and FUN to the students.
In addition to being eligible to compete, member schools will receive the complete Coaches Manual containing the competition rules and descriptions of each Science Olympiad event.
The Science Olympiad manual and its classroom application value alone are worth the membership fee. We would like you to consider joining just for the benefits of incorporating these activities into the classroom!
Member schools may participate and vie for the opportunity to advance to the state and national competitions.
If you have not participated in the past, please consider the opportunity your students would have to showcase their science ability and join in the excitement. For those schools that are returning to the competition, we look forward to seeing you and wish you luck in your regional Science Olympiad!
